Background layer editing

As explained on the Background layer page, the background layer of a gridslot can exist in multiple types. Each of these types has its own editor panel, the images below show what these panels look like in case of simple, detail and random type backgrounds.

The background edit panel can be opened from the slot overview panel, by either clicking the 'edit' entry or the image for the background layer. The 'B' hotkey can also be used to open the background panel from the slot overview panel.

All types

Regardless of the type of the background, the panel will always show the number of the active slot to which this background layer belongs at the very top of the panel.
Under the active slot, the name of the current sprite used as the main image for this layer is shown, in the default set_style_sprite format.

Under the sprite name, the sprite itself is shown (the size of this preview depends on the default gridsize for the active compatibility mode), with next to it 3 selectors to change the set, style and tile of this sprite. To change the image, you can either click the arrow buttons to cycle through all available sets, styles or tiles for the active compatibility mode. If you place the mouse cursor over the 'set', 'style' or 'tile' words, you can also use the arrow keys to cycle through the available images.
Further there is also a selector for the hue, alpha value and brightness (which can also be controlled with arrow keys, similar to the image selectors), two toggles to turn vertical or horizontal flip on or off and a rotate button that allows to cycle through four orientations : north (N), east (E), south (S) and west (W).

A type selector allows to change the type of this background layer.

At the bottom of the panel, there are options to copy the entire background layer, or paste previously copied background layer data into this layer. It's also possible to delete this layer, or return to the selected grid overview or the editor main menu.

Detailed background

If the type of this background layer is detail, another image with related settings is available. These settings are similar to those of the main image, with the only difference being that the detail layer also has access to X and Y offset settings and a related cutoff toggle (the siccors icon).
When a detail image is active, it will also show on top of the main sprite. X and Y offset settings do not show on the detail image itself, but they will be taken into account when this image is being drawn on top of the main sprite.

Randomizer background

In case of a random type background, there will be an option to select which randomizer style should be applied to this background layer. The 'manage randomizers' button will open a panel that allows you to create or edit randomizer styles. For more info about the randomizer panel, visit this page.
