I didn't expect to ever make a The Ethereal album again, thinking the project had served its purpose.
A few long-time fans convinced me otherwise, and whilst crafting the first The Ethereal song in many years, I discovered something within myself still had a need for this kind of music as well.
The tracks 'Dirge', 'Blessed End', 'Legend', 'Why Are There Stars?' were made for donations received through my website. The 2 'Miserere' pieces were loosely inspired by Allegri's Miserere Mei.
A few long-time fans convinced me otherwise, and whilst crafting the first The Ethereal song in many years, I discovered something within myself still had a need for this kind of music as well.

Dirge
Days ever slower.
Less and less filters through.
Blinded by the blaze of the void ahead.
And I... and I... dirge-held
As the dirge of the void tears at me,
More and more is left behind.
And I become the Ethereal.
And I... and I... void-bound
I can no longer stand against the blaze.
Except those parts of me Ethereal.
A nothing end. Death unwitnessed.
A voiceless dirge. Like life Ethereal.
I've become a monument to my own fragility.
To stand watch over nothing for perpetuity.
The blaze will howl through my remains,
singing my dirge.
Ethereal.
Blessed End
gather the pale grey
the lofty voiceless judges
i wish to forget
to be forgotten
i wish to end
and be nothing
a blessed end
a wretched creature
does not deserve
Legend
Always the same rain
stripping away an aged shell.
But I may dream for a while
until the last of my embers
fading, are washed away.
Dream of something better
than emptiness unbroken
but for the rain.
Why Are There Stars?
the void dreamt a dirge
brought forth beacons of light
show all that is pain
why... why are there stars?
existence in blinding chaos
show all that is pain
why... why are there stars?
until the void reclaims all
